14-stone fitted wedding band. Channel set in 14k white gold.

The story.

My client, a lovely young woman, came to me with two engagement rings: hers and her grandmother’s.

She was hoping I could create a wedding band that fit the curves of her existing ring and that used her grandmother’s diamonds.

My only concern: the cut of her grandmother’s diamonds. These ‘antique’ diamonds have only 18 facets compared to today’s brilliant-cut stones with 58 facets. The stones in her two rings would definitely not be an exact match.

However, it became clear that the sentimental value of wearing her grandmother’s diamonds far outweighed the slight mismatch in cut.

What was more important to her was the shape of the new wedding band. It needed to be a perfect fit with her existing ring.

She was thrilled with the final results!
